iPod Indulgence

It's a happy little family. And it doesn't include the one shuffle and two nano's that I gave away. These are music devices and I consider the iPod Touch more of a connected device than something that I use for music. Yes, you can only listen to one at a time, which is why it's today's March Break Indulgence photo.

Newton MessagePad 110 (14 years old and still working) and iPhone

I guess there was no Y2K problem with the Newton. Notice the date and event I scheduled here (view large). 14 years old and this thing still works! Note size compared to the iPhone. I should have taken a shot of the Newton's modem. The modem alone is much larger than the iPhone.

8.10.2011 Der Chaos Computer Club (CCC) hat eine eingehende Analyse staatlicher Spionagesoftware vorgenommen. Die untersuchten Trojaner können nicht nur höchst intime Daten ausleiten, sondern bieten auch eine Fernsteuerungsfunktion zum Nachladen und Ausführen beliebiger weiterer Schadsoftware. Aufgrund von groben Design- und Implementierungsfehlern entstehen außerdem eklatante Sicherheitslücken in den infiltrierten Rechnern, die auch Dritte ausnutzen können.


9.10.2011 Die Vorwürfe sind heftig: Ermittlungsbehörden sollen mittels sogenannter Trojaner Computer ausgespäht und überwacht haben. Dabei sollen die strengen Vorgaben des Bundesverfassungsgerichts von 2008 missachtet worden sein.
