Officials said this is the largest single weapons cache uncovered to date. Coalition forces believe burying the explosives before detonation will reduce the risk of fallout on nearby villages.

An estimated 2 million net pounds of explosives were left at the air field by the old regime, making it the largest single weapons cache uncovered by the coalition to date. Workers are destroying an average of 100,000 pounds of weapons per day.
