Ernst Leitz, Wetzlar Microscope, 1923-1924
This Model C microscope was probably too expensive to be a plaything. But single lens microscopes similar to this one were found in classrooms and most biology and chemistry kits of the time.
RCA Model EMT3 Desktop Electron Microscope, 1950
RCA engineers developed this ?table model? electron microscope for high schools and small colleges. The lower end of its capability overlapped that of optical microscopes, permitting students to progress from familiar ranges of magnification to magnifications up to four times greater than that of optical microscopes.
