40 Years Of Music Tech – Ottawa 01 08

The recent MIDI controller at top makes no sounds of it's own and connects to another keyboard or a separate Tone Module. The Hammond-type organ in the middle allows the player to shape their sounds by adjusting the drawbars for control of your sound's harmonics. The analog synthesizer technology used in the Roland at bottom dates back to the late 1960s and pre-dates both technologies above.

iPod Indulgence

It's a happy little family. And it doesn't include the one shuffle and two nano's that I gave away. These are music devices and I consider the iPod Touch more of a connected device than something that I use for music. Yes, you can only listen to one at a time, which is why it's today's March Break Indulgence photo.

Roxio Easy VHS to DVD Illustration

Roxio Easy VHS to DVD is a combination of software and hardware that allows you to easily and quickly digitize old analog recordings. You simply attach the included hardware to a free USB 2.0 port on your computer, then capture from virtually any analog video or audio source. S-Video and composite-video inputs enable full-resolution DVD recording from VCRs, VCR/DVD combo players, and analog camcorders including Hi8 and V8 models. You can also transfer your old vinyl LPs and cassette tapes onto CDs or convert the songs to MP3 files to play back on portable players and cell phones.

Darwin Was Right About Media Players!

And this is how technology evolutes during years, but we might not notice it since it changes gradually... But it obviously is funny to carry such big cubes plus some more cassettes or CDs, as 'portable' devices! What do you think?

walkmans

okay, it's becoming a bit of an obsession now. vinyl never really died due to dj culture and audiophile interest, but there seems to be almost no tape players on the market any more, certainly no decent walkmans.
