The Hotchkiss Revolving-Cannon, a revolving barrel machine gun invented in 1872 by Benjamin B. Hotchkiss (1826-1885), founder of Hotchkiss et Cie.

Saint Souplet is a few kilometres south of Le Cateau on the River Selle, where the Germans had established a defence line. This area was attacked by the British and Americans in mid October 1918.
