SciSAT-1 satellite / ACE-FTS Instrument

Assembly of the ACE-FTS in a clean room, the main instrument on-board SciSat-1. ACE means Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment. SCISAT helps a team of Canadian and international scientists improve their understanding of the depletion of the ozone layer, with a special emphasis on the changes occurring over Canada and in the Arctic.

Envisat satellite / MIPAS instrument

The Envisat satellite has on board the MIPAS instrument a Michelson Interferometer for Passive Atmospheric Sounding. ABB was responsible for the performance analysis and modeling, for the design and construction of the calibration facility and for ground segment tasks.

GOSAT / TANSO instrument

ABB has manufactured the interferometer and its control electronics for the Japanese instrument TANSO that will fly on the GOSAT satellite.

NPOESS satellite / CrIS Instrument

The National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) is a satellite system used to monitor global environmental conditions, and collect and disseminate data related to: weather, atmosphere, oceans, land and near-space environment. ABB developed the Cross-track Infrared Sounder (CrIS), one of the instruments of the next generation of US polar-orbiting meteorological satellites.

TERRA spacecraft / MOPITT Instrument

ABB developed the MOPITT instrument (Measurement of the Pollution in the Troposphere) for the Canadian Space Agency. Its specific focus is on the distribution, transport, sources, and sinks of carbon monoxide and methane in the troposphere.
