Siemens VDO Viewline instrument series

New Siemens VDO Viewline instrument series offers boat builders and engine manufacturers even more flexibility in functionalities and design

Siemens VDO Up-to-date ocean weather data for maritime navigation

VDO is launching an absolute world innovation for sailing yachts and sports boats on the market: as of now the up-to-date weather can be included in the cal-culations when undertaking electronically supported route planning on the high seas. This is made possible by the VDO C-COM GSM module which is used to call up customised and very detailed forecasts from a specialised provider on wind speed, wind direction and wave height along the route. These data records flow directly into the display of the MAP 7 and MAP 11 series VDO chart plotters, thus supporting the skipper in selecting the optimum course.

The VDO Map 7 V sea-chart plotter further extends the company's range of maritime navigation systems

With this extremely compact yet powerful Map 7 V sea-chart plotter, VDO has launched an addition to its maritime navigation range, right in time for the new season. Thanks to its vertically mounted large colour TFT screen, the electronic pilot is a handy device. It can be installed easily in the cockpit, while a practical quick-release mechanism in the holder makes it just as simple to remove. The compact dimensions of the sea-chart plotter conceal state-of-the-art functionality and an attractive price. A powerful processing unit ensures fast image loading and ease of use.

Widescreen Maritime Navigation - VDO Presents Ocean Map Plotter with 16:9 Aspect Ratio

Perfect map display on a 16:9 format screen in the boat?s cockpit, significantly increased computer performance, and even more connection and installation options ? those are the most important characteristics of the new MAP 7 WI ocean map plotters which herald VDO?s latest generation across the range.

All information at a glance VDO Chart Plotter MAP 11csE now displays engine data on the screen

VDO now provides skippers with all the information they need at a glance. With the introduction of the MAP 11csE this summer, VDO will be the first company in the world to provide a chart plotter that is able to display all engine data in addition to navigation information. The new system is a further development to the previous top-of-the-range model, MAP 11cs, and offers significantly enhanced functionality for almost no extra cost.

VDO introduces the Marine Audio Line, providing optimal integration of audio systems in sports and leisure craft

VDO is extending its wide range of boating accessories, and for the first time is introducing a Marine Audio Line device that guarantees perfect audio on the high seas. The brand thus provides boatyards and builders with a new group of prod-ucts from the same stable as its existing on-board power and engine monitoring systems and the renowned cockpit solutions. Thanks to a variety of design vari-ants, and the properties it has inherited from existing instruments, the VDO Ma-rine Audio Line is optimally integrated into the helm station. This step by the long-established brand will provide boat owners with an easy and reliable retrofit option, as well as a path by which they can access the recognized high-value VDO and VDO Dayton car hi-fi brand ranges

Four in one: VDO Ocean Line Combi brings together the most important navigational data

Marine outfitter VDO is extending for the model year 2004 its Ocean Line range, which has already earned many awads. As both space-saving and easy-assembly alternative for the cockpit of sports and leisure boats, an innovative combined instrument will be included. With this instrument, the most important navigational data can be presented in a single round instrument that has both analogue and digital multifunctional display. This leaves the limited amount of space available at the helm station free for further information, displays and additional systems. The new VDO Ocean Line Combi is the only device available on the market to recognise the information from NMEA and VDO sensors without the need for additional adapters.

VDO Ocean Link: The direct line to engine information

Modern data bus systems with the SAE J 1939 CAN data protocol are being increasingly used for boat engines. VDO is reacting to this growing number of electronically controlled engines in sport and leisure boats and is extending the product range to include the new VDO Ocean Link range of instruments. A master instrument with analogue and digital multifunctional display accesses the CAN bus of the engine control unit and presents the information on a large LC display. If required, it then distributes the data to as many as 20 more analogue instruments. VDO has realised an intelligent software concept that renders any programming superfluous and that, for the first time, enables installation in accordance with the plug & play principle.
